Fabric Flowers

So i've picked up a new hobby! I love making these fabric flowers and I'm hoping to one day make enough to sell them. They are really cute with hair clips, on headbands, or pinned on a plain shirt or cardigan. I couldn't figure out how to get the right lighting, so some of the pictures make the colors look funny, but you get the idea!

Caged!

So our perfect little dog Rush hasn't been quite so perfect. He has never had a potty problem indoors or anything like that, but he is a very active dog so when he is left at home all day he tends to get bored. This means that our Christmas tree, power cords, spaghetti noodles, bathrobes, etc are no longer safe. All of the doggy proofing in the world has not been able to prevent Rush from getting curious and clever. We both finally had enough so we went to the pet store and spent $80 and got him a kennel. We tried to get him comfortable with the idea of being trapped all day, so all weekend we've been putting him in there a little bit at a time. We even got in the cage with him so that he would know there was nothing to be afraid of! I couldn't get a picture of it, but at one point all three of us were in the cage and we actually fit! It really is sad to leave him trapped all day in such a small space, but we have given him sooooo many chances! He brought it upon himself!

A Christmas Carol

My brother Alex is in the cast for A Christmas Carol at the Hale Center Theatre. He was kind enough to give Devin and me tickets to see it last night. Unfortunately, Devin was kept really late at work so he was not able to go with me. I really wanted to be able to go and show some support for Alex and not let the tickets go to waste, but I also didn't want to go all by my lonesome self! My mom suggested that I take my almost 8 year old nephew Chase. My parents had seen the play earlier this week and noticed some kids in the crowd and they seemed to really enjoy it. I was a little hesitant at first that keeping Chase awake until 10:30 PM would either be impossible or impossibly difficult to deal with a cranky 7 year old.
When I picked him up, he had his car booster ready and ran out the door. I brought him a fudge bar to eat in the car and he ate it faster than I ever imagined possible. When we arrived, I parked on the street thinking I was being clever and avoiding a jammed parking lot. We walked to block to the the theatre only to realize that there was plenty of parking in the front row! We had a race back to the car and re-parked. We got our seats on the second row and settled in for a long stay. I asked him several times if he needed to use the bathroom, thinking he was lying and would have to get up in the middle of the performance and he very kindly told me a million times that he was fine.
The show started and Chase's eyes grew wider by the minute! If any of you have ever been to the Hale Center Theatre, it's a pretty small stage in the center of a all of the seats. The actors/actresses make their entrances and exits through the aisles and they also use the aisle as an extension to the stage. Since Chase chose the aisle seat, he constantly had costumes and lights in his face, which only added to his enthusiasm. During the intermission we got some treats and settled back in our seats. I asked Chase who his favorite character was so far and he said "ALEX." What a good little nephew!
The second act opened and smoke began pouring onto the stage. Chase was on the edge of his seat! The third ghost, the ghost of Christmas yet to come, was HUGE and pretty scary looking. I noticed Chase's eyes open wide when the ghost made his appearance. Afterwards, I asked Chase if he got scared and he said no, he knew it was fake so it didn't scare him.
We got up to leave thinking we would see Alex in the lobby, but when we couldn't find him, I decided it was really late and I needed to get Chase home. We started to drive away and we noticed all of the actors outside singing carols. So I re-parked the car again and we ran up and gave Alex hugs and ran back to the car. Chase informed me that I better hurry because it was way past his bedtime! What a great kid!
When we arrived back to Chase's house I was surprised to see little Cayden (Chase's little brother) running around more hyper than I have ever seen a little toddler. Penny just sighed and said he had a late nap so he was completely wired now! Well, I think I wore out Chase cause he went right to bed but I can't say the same for little Cayden! Poor Penny! At least Brandon and Callie were completely asleep!

Fun in the Snow

I found these pictures from two winters ago on my mom's computer and thought I'd share. After Sunday dinner, I decided to play with my nephews in the snow. I didn't have the right clothes there so I borrowed my mom's sweat pants (which I later begged to keep because they're so soft), two sweaters, and a coat! There was sooo much snow piled up all over our neighborhood so we had a lot of fun!

Wedding Bliss

I've been forgetting to post these because all of these pictures were on my mom's computer. To clarify, these were pictures taken with my mom's camera so that we would have some snapshots of the big day to show everyone! So, not everyone is looking in all of the pictures, but you get the idea! The professional ones are coming soon!
Coming out of the Temple!

My cute nieces were so excited to dress up and be part of the wedding!

Kristen and Adam! Kristen had her dress custom made by the same lady that made my dress!

All of my nieces!

Pumpkin Carving

McKenzie and Greg organized an evening of pumpkin carving. McKenzie and I were the only ones that ended up participating, but we've got cute pumpkins to show for it!

Rush

Here's a tribute to our little doggy Rush. Devin got him a couple of months before we started dating and he's really been the best dog! We love him

Callie Elizabeth

My newest niece, Callie, was blessed two Sundays ago and I was the only one with a camera! She is definitely going to be the princess at her house with 3 older brothers! I'm excited to watch her grow up! I just love this little happy family!

This is the cake that I made for my friend Courtney's baby shower (the baby's name is Zoey). The next picture is blurry but it shows the pregnant Courtney figure, that I made out of fondant, better.

This is the diaper cake I made for her present. The topper is actually a rattle and the little animal heads are little finger puppets!

Stadium of Fire

Devin's Aunt Diane had an extra ticket to the Stadium of Fire, and she was sweet enough to let me have it! I had never been and I'm totally converted to Stadium of Fire! Eventhough the performers included the Jonas Brothers, I found myself bobbin my head and getting into it! Unfortunately, Devin couldn't be there to enjoy it with me because he was still out in Wisconsin installing security systems. SheDaisy performed their song "Come Home Soon," which made me start crying like a baby thinking of how much I missed Devin. Mckenzie took one look at me trying to conseal my tears and she started crying. Jeanne took one look at us and started crying too! People probably thought we were crazy but the song was so emotional and we all just missed Devin so much! I love him even when he makes me emotional in public :)

Bridals

These are a little overdue, but I couldn't post them before the wedding because Devin was forbidden to see them beforehand! Mckenzie was obviously the photographer and she did yet another amazing job! We went up American Fork Canyon to Silver Lake and the aspen groves near there. I designed my dress and had it custom made by a woman in my ward! She's amazing and I'd like to think that my dress is too!

Devin's dog Rush made an appearance. I think the pictures with him turned out hilarious. I had an 8x10 printed and framed for Devin's nightstand.

This next one is my favorite!

Just a few more i promise!

Broadbent's Wedding Cake

Broadbent, known as Steve to almost everyone else, got married July 2, 2009 and asked me to make his wedding cake! I was excited to make more marshmellow fondant and I can now say that I am very comfortable working with fondant now! I was really excited about how this cake turned out! The bottom tier was vanilla cake with a lemon creme filling, the middle tier was chocolate fudge with a chocolate mousse filling, and the top tier was lemon with a buttercream filling! Alli put Broadbent in charge of finding a cake topper so none of us were really surprised when he showed up with the ball and chain cake topper! (Just to clarify: He doesn't really feel that way, but that's totally his sense of humor!) Congrats you too, I'm soooo excited for you guys!

Carey's Wedding

This was definately a fun cake to make and very low stress because it was only one level! Imagine that all of the tiers have lots of different cute cupcakes on it (I didn't have time to wait for the display to be completed before I had to leave, so use your imagination.) Her wedding was so cute with tons of orange, pink, and green. The cake had as much chocolate as I could make it with! Triple chocolate fudge cake, chocolate mousse, and chocolate buttercream were all hiding out underneath the homemade marshmellow fondant!

I also helped Carey and her mom make these cute mini cupcakes for all of the little kids! They turned out so cute and colorful!
